We recently tried Beyond Meat Plant-Based Ground Beyond Beef in Sloppy Joe format and let me tell you, it was delicious!  I think Sloppy Joe’s transport you back to your childhood where you ate dinner around the family table.  It was a classic meal and a staple in a lot of homes growing up.  However, tastes have changed for some people and others follow a plant-based diet, so a traditional Sloppy Joe just won’t cut it anymore.  That’s where Beyond Meat comes in!

Beyond Beef BBQ Sloppy Joe’s are the perfect meal for anyone following a vegan diet or for someone who wants to give it a try.  It’s a plant-based recipe the whole family can enjoy!  The Beyond Beef BBQ Sloppy Joe’s are just as meaty as the traditional version and can be dressed up a bit with onions or peppers.

The recipe can be found here.

Start by heating olive oil or avocado oil in a large skillet over medium heat.  Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

You could also add some diced bell peppers or a minced jalapeno for additional heat and flavor.

Add the garlic, salt, and paprika.  Stir to combine and cook for about one more minute.

Add the Beyond Beef (ground version) and use a spatula to break it into a ground meat consistency as it cooks.  Cook for about 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through.

Add the BBQ sauce and stir to coat.  Lower the heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes.  The BBQ sauce will absorb into the Beyond Beef and become very flavorful.

Remove from the heat and assemble your Sloppy Joe’s.  If you have dietary restrictions or follow a specific diet, make sure to check the package labeling before purchasing certain products.  I like to serve Sloppy Joe’s on big brioche buns but those sometimes contain eggs.  You don’t want to be caught off guard if there is an ingredient you can’t / shouldn’t eat, so check the label first!

Serve the BBQ Beyond Meat warm by piling a heaping scoop onto each bun.  Top with sliced onion (optional) and the other half of the bun.  Enjoy!

The recipe can be found here.

I served these to meat eaters, and they were blown away!  They could not tell the difference in taste or texture, and really enjoyed the meal.  Give it a try!

Happy Cooking!
