If you are looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal that is customizable to individual tastes and will get you outdoors and grilling so you can enjoy the beautiful weather while you cook, I have just the thing!  Grilled Naan Flatbread is the answer to your prayers.  We’ve made this meal multiple times over the past few weeks because it’s so easy!

The recipe can be found here.

When I say recipe, I really mean grilling instructions.  You don’t need much of a recipe for the flatbreads because it’s just assembly – pick and choose your own toppings.  It’s essentially pizza, and you can’t go wrong with pizza, so add the toppings you like!

Start by preheating the grill to 450 degrees F.

Turn a baking sheet over and place a piece of aluminum foil on top.  This will come in handy later in the recipe when you transfer the flatbreads to the grill.  The foil makes it easy to slide right off the baking pan and on to the grilling grates.

Place 2 naan flatbreads on top of the foil.  If you are making more than 2, use a second baking sheet for the additional naan flatbreads.

Add the toppings of your choice!  Be as creative as you want but make sure to ONLY use pre-cooked meat as the amount of time on the grill is not enough to fully cook the meat.  It will only be heated through.

We like to use marinara sauce as the base, then add shredded cheese, pepperoni or Canadian bacon, chopped peppers, sliced olives, and pineapple chunks.  I admit, we are pineapple on pizza lovers but it’s not for everyone!

We also like to use marinara sauce or olive oil as the base, then add shredded cheese, cherry tomatoes, sausage crumbles, shallots, green pepper, etc.

When you are done assembling your naan flatbreads, carefully transport the baking sheets out to the grill.  Turn off the center burners.  The gill will be hot enough by this point and the outside burners will be plenty to cook the naan flatbreads.

Slide the entire piece of foil off the baking sheet and onto the grill.  As previously mentioned, the foil makes it easy to move the naan flatbreads and prevents the bottoms from burning!

Close the grill cover and warm the naan flatbreads until the ingredients are hot and the cheese has melted, about 4-6 minutes.  Then, carefully slide the foil out from under the flatbreads and let the bottoms crisp up for about 30 seconds.

Use the same baking sheet you used to transport the flatbreads to remove them from the grill.  If you are making more than 2 naan flatbreads, grill the first 2 and then repeat these steps to grill the additional naan flatbreads.  They cook so fast that it’s not a problem to grill in batches.

Slice and serve warm.  Enjoy!

I love how crisp the naan flatbread gets…it’s almost like eating a thin crust pizza.  The ingredients are cooked to perfection and you get just a hint of grilled flavor.  This is a fun recipe for kids as well because they can build their own.  Think less complaints at dinner time because everyone gets to make what they like 😊

The recipe can be found here.

Happy Cooking!
