These are addicting!  Who knew a chicken burger could taste so good?  Chicken Bacon Ranch Burgers are loaded with juicy chicken, melted cheddar cheese, crisp bacon, and plenty of ranch seasoning.  They are a new household favorite and something you should keep stocked in your freezer for plenty of summer grilling. The recipe can be found here. Start by cooking the bacon according to package instructions.  You can use any brand, thickness, or flavor of bacon you prefer.  Just make sure to have enough bacon to use as an ingredient inside the burgers and as a topping.  Once cooked, remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain the excess grease.  Chop 4 strips of bacon and set the other strips aside. Add the ground chicken, chopped bacon, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and the entire packet of ranch seasoning to a mixing bowl.  Don’t make the ranch dressing, just use … Continue reading

We recently tried a recipe for Bacon Apple Chicken Burgers with Dijon Sauce, and it was amazing!  The burgers are a little sweet from the apples and a little salty from the crispy bacon.  Add the Dijon sauce and you have a little slice of heaven!  The Dijon sauce is a combination of Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and maple syrup so it is sweet yet tangy, and I could not get enough of it.  All the flavors in this burger pair well and your taste buds will be happy 😊 The ingredient list looks long but these burgers really are easy to make.  And you will most likely have most of the ingredients at home already, so give them a try! The recipe can be found here. Start by preparing the Dijon sauce.  Add the Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and maple syrup to a mixing bowl and stir to combine.  Give it a taste and adjust the ingredients, as necessary.  For … Continue reading

Right around this time of year I get a craving for a turkey dinner…. a nice plate full of my favorite Thanksgiving foods.  But, that’s just too much food on a hot summer day.  I decided to create a recipe that not only reminds me of Thanksgiving but is light enough for summer.  I give you the Turkey Burger with Cranberry Aioli.   The turkey burger is full of flavorful herbs and when you combine it with the cranberry aioli you have the perfect burger.  It’s a great blend of sweet and savory with a lean and juicy burger. Start by making the cranberry aioli.  Combine the mayo, Dijon mustard and cranberry sauce until well mixed.  It might be a little lumpy and that’s OK.  If you don’t want any lumps use the back of a spook to mash the lumps or whisk the ingredients.  Either set aside until the … Continue reading

I have a great recipe for Chicken Cheddar Apple Burgers to share with you today.  If you love Fall and are looking to put the apples you bought at the orchard to good use or if you just aren’t ready to put the grill away, this recipe is for you!  The complimentary Fall favors come together to create a new take on classic BBQ. The recipe can be found here. Start by combining all ingredients in a mixing bowl.  The apple will need to be shredded before mixing.  This is simple to do by using a cheese grater or potato peeler, depending on how big you want the apple shavings.  The apple will help keep the burger moist and ensure the flavor is included in every bite. Next form into 4 equal size patties.  Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook on each side for about 6 minutes or … Continue reading

There is nothing like a juicy burger hot off the grill, chilled cocktail in hand, and warm weather to cure those winter blues.  I want to share some of my favorite chicken/turkey burger recipes with you now that it’s starting to feel like summer!  These are all a nice break from typical hamburgers and healthier for you (well, maybe not once you add all the toppings).  I think they are very flavorful, simple to make, and delicious to eat.  The first recipe I want to share is for Buffalo Chicken Burgers.  These are ¼ pound burgers that taste just like buffalo wings but without the mess.  Who wouldn’t want that?  I like to top my burger with extra buffalo sauce and a little ranch dressing, then add a small amount of each onto my plate for extra dipping sauce.  This burger would also pair well with blue cheese.  The recipe … Continue reading

Black Bean Burgers are all the rage…in my life 😊 I know, I know…why would you want to eat a bland black bean burger when you could eat a juicy beef burger, you ask? Because they are quick and easy to make, packed with flavor, and a delicious (meatless) option.  I dare you to give them a try!  Plus, these are a great alternative to the frozen kind and will make you never want to eat a frozen burger again.   The recipe can be found here. The recipe involves mixing all the ingredients in a food processor, forming into patties, refrigerating, frying, and enjoying – all in 15 minutes!  Forming the patties can be slightly sticky so I recommend coating your hands with oil and forming the mixture into 4 balls, then flattening into patties.  Allow the patties to cool for at least 1 hour but keep them in the … Continue reading

One thing I’ve always been curious to try is a Juicy Lucy. I’ve never had the opportunity because I don’t eat red meat so I decided to create my own version using ground chicken. It took some tweaking to get the texture and size of the patty right but the result was yummy! The recipe can be found here. I didn’t want to use plain ground chicken without any seasoning because the burger wouldn’t have much flavor then. I followed the seasoning recipe from the Buffalo Chicken Penne recipe. I use this seasoning mix all the time at home. It’s great on a grilled chicken breast or veggies because it adds a salty flavor with a bit of spice, but now I’m getting off topic! I thought this seasoning would complement the cheese inside the burger nicely. I mean, I had to start somewhere and this was my best option! … Continue reading

It’s a busy time of year with summer coming to an end, school starting, preparing for fall and all the delicious food that comes with it (more on that later) but we were able to squeeze in one more weekend at the cabin!  We opted for a fairly simple menu because the weather was perfect and we wanted to make the most of the holiday weekend by spending as much time outside as possible. Let’s be honest, no one is up early at the lake, but when we do get up we are ready for some Bloody Mary’s and breakfast.  Our favorite is Tito’s Vodka with equal parts Tomato Juice and Clamato plus all the fixings!  We used Ellsworth, WI Cheese Curds, pickles, and summer sausage for our skewers.  Refreshing and a great way to start the day! While enjoying our Bloody’s we whipped up a delicious breakfast of Belgian … Continue reading

For many of us Memorial Day marks the beginning of the “going to the lake” season with friends and family, this means lots of potluck dinners and picnics with food for a crowd. Burgers are often on these summer menus so we decided we should work on making the burger a little bolder with some spices, condiments and always with cheese! One of our favorite condiments is Sriracha so what better to have in and on top of a burger. The Sriracha Burger is full-flavored and fabulous. One of our favorite dishes is Guacamole so we thought it appropriate to combine with a burger for an all-star meal – the Guacamole Burger. Some of our other flavor-filled burger recipes are the PBB (peanut butter burger),a Bacon Jam Burger and a Juicy Lucy. A side dish that seems a must for summer is our Homestyle Potato Salad conveniently sold by the … Continue reading
