With Easter right around the corner, I want to share a few fun ideas for your celebration.  I’m strictly sticking with dessert, cocktail, and snack options here.  You don’t need me telling you what to bake for brunch or cook for dinner (or where to go out to eat if you prefer) 😊 My family has the same conversation every year about what we’re going to eat…and we always go with the exact same thing as the previous year.  It’s tradition, we know what to expect, and everyone looks forward to the meal.  I think the same applies to a lot of families out there.  So, that’s why I like to focus on the “sides” if you will.  It’s themed food that’s delicious, easy to make, and adds to the celebration in a way that doesn’t break tradition yet lets us enjoy something new.  So please enjoy the “treats” I’m sharing with you … Continue reading

One thing I always hear people talk about is Easter Brunch.  Who is hosting?  What are we having? So on and so forth.  But what I never hear anyone talk about is Easter Cocktails.  Why not add adult beverages to the celebration?  Well, I did just that!  I use Peeps for a festive touch and each cocktail is themed to a different Peep color. Here’s what I have for you today: Blue Peeps Cocktail Pink Peeps Cocktail Yellow Peeps Lemon Cocktail   The Blue Peeps Cocktail is very citrusy and a little sweet.  It reminds me of a cocktail I would drink on a tropical beach somewhere 😊 The Pink Peeps Cocktail tastes just like a vodka lemonade.  Perfect on a hot summer day! The Yellow Peeps Lemon Cocktail is like a lemon drop.  It’s a little sour with a sweet aftertaste. Two of the recipes call for marshmallow vodka, which I couldn’t locate, so I did have to make … Continue reading

The Chocolate Birds’ Nests recipe can be found here. The Peanut Butter Birds’ Nests recipe can be found here. Can you believe it?  Easter is right around the corner.  With all that is going on in the world these days I’m starting to lose track of time.  What is typically a day of family and friends gathering together will most likely be spend apart or perhaps in very small groups.  This puts quite the strain on menu planning when you won’t be hosting, won’t be attending the usual get-together, or are just trying to maintain social distance. Not to worry – I won’t let you know down!  I have created a menu of simple items you can make at home.  Some can be modified depending on the ingredients in your pantry, some can be reduced in size or doubled depending on the number of people in your household, and some make great leftovers 🙂 I’m going to start the morning with Peeps Pancakes and Hash Brown & Bacon Egg … Continue reading

One of my favorite holiday traditions as a child was coloring the Easter eggs, as an adult one of my least favorite traditions was hard-boiling the eggs so the eggs could be dyed! Many years ago I discovered the secret of perfect hard-boiled eggs – I purchase them from the Deli at Festival. I prefer to purchase the eggs and dye them at home but the Deli team also prepares dyed eggs if that is your choice.
