Occasionally during the winter, I start craving warmer weather, fruity cocktails, and a beach somewhere tropical.  Who doesn’t?  But we live in MN and that’s not a reality this time of year.  To curb the winter blues, I sometimes make fruity cocktails at home to feel a little more cheerful about the amount of snow outside 😊 I’m going to share with you 2 new cocktail recipes using Starburst Infused Vodka.  You read that right…I infused vodka with Starburst candy.  It was super simple and didn’t take any effort to make but patience is required to allow the vodka to sit for a few days. The cocktail recipes can be found here: Cherry Limeade with Starburst Infused Vodka Strawberry Lemonade with Starburst Infused Vodka   You want to start by infusing the vodka.  Use a fairly nice vodka because it’s literally 2 ingredients: vodka and Starbursts.  And you want to enjoy the cocktail, not feel like you ordered some … Continue reading

Farro is something I was recently introduced to and it’s the star of these recipes.  It’s a grain that makes great salads when used as the base or when added to leafy greens.  It’s hearty, has a slightly nutty taste, holds up well with dressing, and makes a great meal.  Farro is something I find myself craving because there is such a wide range for its use, and it can be completely customizable when added to other dishes…. like salads 😊 I’d like to share with you a handful of new recipes I’ve been working on over the past few months, all-encompassing farro.  I will admit, I went on a bit of a farro-kick, but the end result did NOT disappoint!  Here are the recipes: Apple, Gouda, & Farro Mixed Greens Salad Cilantro Lime Farro Mediterranean Farro Salad Summer Farro Salad with Apples, Pecans, and Arugula Thai Peanut Farro Salad Butternut Squash & Farro Salad Greek … Continue reading

Himalayan Salt Blocks are a simple and fairly inexpensive way to cook your food.  The non-stick surface sears meat perfectly, the heat is distributed evenly throughout the entire cooking surface, the seasoning is built-in (because it’s a block of salt), and you can chill it to serve chilled food (think charcuterie board, etc.). We like to use our Himalayan Salt Block for grilling.  The thought process here is low and slow, but it’s worth it!  The fun to watch a block of salt cook your food but it also tastes amazing.  The meat absorbs some of the salt while cooking but don’t worry, it’s not saturated with salt…just a subtle hint. You want to add the Himalayan Salt Block to the grill over the lowest heat setting and gradually increase the temperature until the desired temperature is reached.  This will take time!  If you heat too fast, you risk damaging … Continue reading

A Mojito is refreshing during any season, but I am partial to enjoying them during the hot summer months.  If you haven’t had one, you’re in for a treat.  Traditionally, a Mojito consists of white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint.  It’s the perfect combination of sweet and citrus with the wonderful aroma of fresh mint – very refreshing! I want to share with you 4 recipes today: Classic Fresh Mint Mojito Blackberry Mojito Blueberry Mojito Kiwi Blueberry Mojito   Please note: Mojitos typically have a lower alcohol content, but the recipes can be adjusted to meet your individual taste. Classic Fresh Mint Mojito – It’s hard to beat the crisp, fresh taste of this traditional drink. Start by adding the mint leaves and lime juice to the bottom of 2 glasses.  Use a muddler or wooden spoon to blend or mash the mint leaves in each glass.  … Continue reading
