Jalapeño Cheddar Turkey Burgers

Ingredients:
2 lbs Ground Turkey (or sub-Ground Chicken)
1/2 Cup White Onion, finely diced
3 Tbsp Fresh Cilantro, finely chopped
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 Jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
1/2 Tsp Cumin
1 Tsp Paprika
1/2 Tbsp Lime Juice
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 Tsp Salt
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
6 Hamburger Buns
6 Slices Cheddar Cheese
Lettuce, for topping
Sliced Tomato, for topping
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine the turkey, onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeno, cumin, paprika, lime, cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Divide into 6 equally sized balls and flatten into patties.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature of 165 degrees F is reached. Cook in batches if needed and keep the cooked burgers warm in a 300-degree oven.
- While the burgers cook, preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Place the buns, open face, on a baking sheet. Add a slice of cheese to one side of each bun. Lightly toast the buns and melt the cheese in the oven for about 5 minutes.
- When ready to assemble, place the burgers on the toasted buns. Top with lettuce and tomato. Enjoy!
