Ingredients:

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup heavy whipping cream
8 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
1 teaspoon kosher salt

Directions:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a heavy saucepan. Stir over medium low heat until sugar dissolves.
  2. Increase heat to medium high and boil without stirring the mixture until the syrup becomes a deep amber color. Add heavy whipping cream (caramel will become firm). Reduce heat and stir continuously until the caramel is completely melted.
  3. Remove from heat and add the melted butter and salt and stir to completely mix the sauce.
  4. Serve over waffles or ice cream.
