Homemade Tomato Basil Sauce

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
3-4 Large Tomatoes, chopped
1/4 Cup Basil, chopped, plus more for garnish
1 Tbsp Olive oil
1 Tsp Garlic Salt
1 Tsp Salt
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
1 Tbsp Flour
1/4 Cup Pasta Water
2-3 Garlic Cloves, minced
1 lb Pasta Noodles, cooked, for serving
Parmesan Cheese, for garnish and serving

Directions:

  1. Start by preparing your ingredients; chop the tomatoes and basil, mince the garlic. Set aside.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside. Reserve ¼ cup of the pasta water to use in the sauce.
  3. Melt the butter in a larger skillet over medium heat. Add the tomatoes and cook until warmed through and the juices are starting to release.
  4. Add the olive oil, garlic salt, salt, pepper, and basil, and stir to combine.
  5. Add the flour and mix until well incorporated. Bring to a slow simmer and continue to cook until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the pasta water and garlic and stir to combine. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. Add the noodles to plates or bowls. Ladle the sauce over the top. Garnish with parmesan cheese and chopped basil. Serve warm and enjoy!
