Ingredients:
1 Cup + 1 Tbsp Milk
Blue Gel Food Coloring
1 Package Instant Yeast
3 Cups Flour
3 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tsp Salt
1 Egg
2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted
2 lbs Ground Beef, Ground Chicken, or Ground Turkey
Sliced Cheese, for topping
Sliced Tomato, for topping
Sliced Onion, for topping
Lettuce, for topping
Egg Wash, optional (1 Egg + 1 Tsp Water)
Directions:
Combine the milk and food coloring in a bowl – stir well to combine. Then, pour into the bowl of a stand mixer. Add the package of instant yeast and stir to combine.
Add the flour, sugar, salt, egg, and melted butter. Use the dough hook to slowly mix the ingredients together until a ball forms – it will be sticky!
Flour the counter and turn the dough onto the counter. Knead while incorporating small amounts of flour until the dough is less sticky and easy to handle. Divide into 6 equal portions and roll into balls.
Place the dough, spaced apart, on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Place in a warm space and let rise for approximately one hour.
Once risen, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Optional – combine 1 egg with 1 tsp water in a small bowl. Brush over the top of each bun before baking.
Bake for 14-16 minutes. Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool.
While the buns cool, form the ground beef (or chicken or turkey) into 6 patties. Each patty will be 1/3 lb. Season each side with salt and pepper.
Heat a skillet over medium heat, add the burgers, and cook on each side for 6-7 minutes or until prepared to your liking (for beef). If using chicken or turkey, cook until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
Slice the buns in half. Add sliced cheese to the bottom and top with a burger. Add sliced tomato, sliced onion, and lettuce. Add the top half of the bun. Serve and enjoy!
