Mardi Gras Streusel Bread

Ingredients:

1 Stick Unsalted Butter, melted
1 Cup Sugar
2 Large Eggs
2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 Tsp Cinnamon
1 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
1/2 Tsp Salt
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
1/4 Cup Whole Milk
1/2 Cup Mardi Gras Mix Jimmies (combo of purple, green, and yellow)
STREUSEL INGREDIENTS:
1/3 Cup All Purpose Flour
2 Tbsp Mardi Gras Mix Jimmies (combo of purple, green, and yellow)
2 Tbsp Sugar
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4 Tsp Cinnamon
1/8 Tsp Salt
1 1/2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, melted

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x5 loaf pan with Crisco then dust with flour.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Pour into the butter mixture and whisk to combine.
  4. Add the sour cream and milk and whisk until combined.
  5. Fold in the jimmies.
  6. Pour into the prepared pan and spread into an even layer.
  7. Make the streusel topping. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, jimmies, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the vanilla extract and melted butter and stir until combined. The mixture will be crumbly.
  8. Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the top.
  9. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cook for 15 minutes then remove to a cooling rack to cool.
  10. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
  11. Leftovers should be cooled completely and stored in an airtight container.
