Mashed Rutabaga and Red Potatoes

Ingredients:
3 lb. B-size red potatoes, quartered
4 cups rutabaga, peeled and chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoon salt, plus 2 teaspoons, divided
1/2 cup heavy cream or half and half
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter
Freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
In a large sauce pan or stockpot, combine potatoes, rutabaga, onion, and 1 Tbsp. salt; add water to cover. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes or until tender. Drain well.
Add remaining salt, heavy cream, cream cheese, butter, and a dash of pepper. Mash together and season to taste with salt and pepper; serve hot.
