Ingredients:
3 1/2 Cups Bourbon
1 Cup Sugar
4 Cups Cherries, pitted and stems removed, frozen cherries work well
Directions:
Add the bourbon and sugar to a saucepan. Simmer on low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Be careful to not splash any liquid over the sides of the pan - stir slowly!
Remove from the heat and let cool for 15-20 minutes.
Divide the cherries into 4 or 5 jars. If using frozen cherries, thaw completely before placing in jars.
Pour the bourbon mixture over the cherries until completely covered.
Tightly seal and store in the fridge for 1-2 weeks before enjoying. The cherries can be stored in the fridge for up to one year.
* Bourbon soaked cherries are great addition to a Manhattan, other cocktails or spoon the syrup and cherries over ice cream for an adult dessert treat.
