Ingredients:
10 Wooden Skewers
10 Hot Dogs
1 Tube Refrigerated Crescent Rolls or Breadstick Dough
3-4 Pieces of Cheese, any variety, 1/4-inch thick
Ketchup and Mustard, for dipping
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Insert skewers through the entire length of each hot dog. Leave about 1-inch exposed at the top for the cheese.
- Lay the crescent rolls dough or breadstick dough flat on the counter. Press together any seams. Slice into 5 long strips then slice each strip in half.
- Take one piece of dough and wrap around one hot dog. Start at one end and circle toward the other end. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs.
- Place the hot dogs on the baking sheet, leaving space between each one. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and starting to turn golden brown.
- While the hot dogs are baking, use a star shaped cookie cutter to cut shapes out of the cheese slices.
- Remove the hot dogs from the oven and cool for 2-3 minutes or until you can hold the skewers with your hands. Place a piece of cheese onto each skewer to resemble a firecracker.
- Serve warm with ketchup and mustard.
