German Chocolate Caramel Bars





Ingredients:
| 1 1/2 Packages (11oz Size) Kraft Caramels |
| 2/3 Cup Evaporated Milk, divided |
| 1 Box German Chocolate Cake Mix |
| 1 1/2 Sticks Unsalted Butter, melted |
| 1/2 Cup Chopped Walnuts, optional |
| 6 oz Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips |
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Add the caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk to a saucepan and heat over medium low heat. Stir occasionally and let heat until fully melted and combined. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Combine the cake mix (just the powder mix, do not include the ingredients listed on the box), melted butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and nuts (optional) in a mixing bowl. Mix until combined, the dough will be slightly stiff.
- Press ½ of the dough in the bottom of the baking dish, spreading to the sides. Bake for 6 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
- Drizzle the caramel over the top of the chocolate chips, covering as much of the surface as possible.
- Add the remaining dough on top of the caramel. You will need to use your hands or a spoon to add dollops across the top. Do not try to spread it.
- Bake for an additional 15-16 minutes. Let cool. Slice, serve, and enjoy!
- Store in an airtight container on the counter.
