Spicy Pasta and Sausage





Serves 4
Ingredients:
| 1 1/2 lb hot Italian sausage |
| 1 lb medium shells or penne pasta |
| 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil |
| 3/4 cup dry white wine |
| 1 cup heavy cream |
| 3 tablespoons grainy mustard |
| 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper |
| 1 cup thinly sliced fresh basil |
| Grated Parmesan, for serving |
Directions:
- Cook the pasta according to instructions until al dente; drain.
- While pasta is cooking, add olive oil to a large deep skillet and heat over medium high. Add the sausage and cook thoroughly, drain oil from the pan.
- Add the wine and simmer scraping the brown bits from bottom of the pan, reduce the wine to about half. Combine cream and mustard and add to cooked sausage, add crushed red pepper and simmer until hot.
- Remove the skillet from heat, add the pasta and basil and toss to coat.
- Serve with grated Parmesan.
