Preheat oven to 375 degrees and spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray.
Use a bread knife to slice the rolls in half without separating the rolls. Place the bottom half in a 9x13 pan.
Spread pesto on top of the bottom half of the rolls.
Add the sliced mozzarella on top of the pesto.
Add the sliced tomatoes on top of the mozzarella.
Add the basil on top of the tomatoes.
Place the top half of the rolls on top.
Melt the butter in the microwave and drizzle or brush over the top of the rolls.
Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese liberally over the top of the rolls. Then sprinkle the poppy seeds, salt, and pepper over the top of the rolls.
Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes. You want the tops to be golden brown and slightly crispy.
