Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet





Serves 8
Ingredients:

2 cloves garlic, minced+ Add to Shopping List |
8 oz sliced fresh mushrooms, optional+ Add to Shopping List |
1 envelope dry onion soup mix+ Add to Shopping List |
2 packages dry macaroni and cheese mix, divided use+ Add to Shopping List |
1 can cream of mushroom soup+ Add to Shopping List |
2 Cups milk+ Add to Shopping List |
1 jar Cheez Whiz, (15 oz.)+ Add to Shopping List |
1 teaspoon dry mustard+ Add to Shopping List |
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper+ Add to Shopping List |
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce+ Add to Shopping List |
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided use+ Add to Shopping List |
8 strips cooked bacon, crumbled+ Add to Shopping List |
Seasoned salt+ Add to Shopping List |
Fresh ground pepper+ Add to Shopping List |
Real Bacon Bits, for garnish, optional+ Add to Shopping List |
Sliced green onions, for garnish+ Add to Shopping List |
Directions:
- Brown ground beef, onion, mushrooms, if using, and garlic over medium high heat; sprinkle with dry onion soup mix; stir and cook 5 minutes more. Meanwhile, prepare macaroni from macaroni and cheese dry mix according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- Add 1 dry cheese packet (save the other one for another use) from mac and cheese mix, cream of mushroom soup, milk, Cheez Whiz, dry mustard, cayenne pepper, and hot pepper sauce. Stir in reserved cooked macaroni, 1 cup of the shredded cheddar, and crumbled bacon; season to taste with seasoned salt and pepper. Sprinkle top with remaining shredded cheddar and garnish with sliced green onions and bacon bits, if using.
