Let ham sit on the counter for 2-3 hours before cooking to allow it to reach room temperature.
Whist together all ingredients, except the butter, in a medium saucepan.
Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer over medium heat, stir often.
Continue to simmer for about 15 minutes until thickened and reduced.
Stir in butter.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Move the oven rack to the lowest position.
Pour 2 cups of water in the bottom of a roasting pan and place the rack inside the pan.
Roll out a large piece of aluminum foil and place the ham on it. Brush the glaze all over the ham and inside each slice.
Tightly wrap the ham in the foil and place on the roasting rack.
Bake for about 2 hours.
Remove the ham from the oven and increase the temperature to 400 degrees.
Fold back the aluminum foil and add more glaze. Keep the ham unwrapped but place back in the oven for another 15-20 minutes, or until the glaze starts to caramelize.
Remove the ham from the oven and brush with the rest of the glaze.
Loosely cover with foil and allow to sit for 15 minutes.
