The Christmas season is filled with so many traditions; families heading to tree farms to choose and cut their tree to decorate together or friends gathering for a tree trimming party, cookie exchanges, etc. It is also filled with shopping, school concerts, houseguests, and food, glorious food, that’s where we come in. Our December Seafood Sale is a very popular holiday tradition for our guests as well as our associates.
One item always featured in our seafood sale is our Alaskan Red King Crab. Most people don’t know that there are actually three different types of Alaskan king crab. There are red, blue, and brown king crabs; Reds are known for being the sweetest of all king crab. While other retail stores offer the brown king crab because of the lower price point, we choose to sell Alaskan Red King to provide the best quality and value to our customers. The crab leg size that we sell is 16-20 count that means the number of legs per 10 lbs. sold, larger crab legs yield more meat per pound than smaller legs. Remember that all Alaskan king crab legs are fully cooked, all you have to do to prepare is heat and serve with melted butter.
Consider making our Penne with Vodka Sauce recipe and substituting shrimp for the Italian sausage. Purchase easy to peel raw shrimp and cook peeled shrimp in a nonstick skillet over medium heat with a small amount of olive oil, add shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Stirring occasionally, saute the shrimp until they start to curl and turn pink, about 4 to 6 minutes. When fully cooked, the shrimp will no longer be translucent.
If only a surf and turf will suffice for your celebration, you can still do this without breaking the bank. We have lovely 4 oz Lobster Tail that would be perfect for the “surf”. For a larger portion of lobster, we offer beautiful 8 oz and up lobster tails, a very special treat. Serve lobster tail with melted butter.
Seafood options for some great starters or appetizers are our selection of tail-on cooked shrimp whether medium or the jumbo served with our own fresh cocktail sauce sold in our seafood departments. We also offer shrimp trays, handmade in our store accompanied by our own cocktail sauce to save you the prep time.
Another very fun option is Snow Crab Cocktail Claws serve them with the fresh cocktail sauce or perhaps this recipe for Joe’s of Miami Mustard Sauce, a personal favorite of mine. Something that we always serve with our holiday appetizers are Herring Cutlets and crackers, our are sold in wine sauce.
In case you haven’t heard we now offer Festival Express, our new home grocery delivery service. The same great products right to your door!
Enjoy the season!
