Bacon Jalapeno Crescent Roll Puffs is an easy appetizer or dinner recipe that will be a crowd favorite!  I say appetizer or dinner because the recipe is something most people would serve as an appetizer but if you eat enough of them (like we did) they can also be filling enough for an entire meal 😊

Think of this recipe as a spin on a traditional jalapeno popper.  You still have the jalapeno, bacon, shredded cheese, and cream cheese but instead of being stuffed inside the jalapenos, the ingredients are wrapped in crescent roll dough.  You get crispy bacon and spicy jalapeno, but the heat is cut by the combination of Colby jack and cream cheese.  The crescent roll dough creates this warm, soft, pillowy blanket to hold the ingredients together.  They are addictive!

The recipe can be found here.

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cook the bacon according to package instructions.  Then, remove to a paper towel lined plate to cool.  Chop into small pieces.

I prefer to bake the bacon, so it cooks more evenly, but pan frying works well too.  Baking allows me to set the timer and forget about it while I prep other ingredients, so it’s also a time saver when you are trying to get dinner on the table.  If you want to add extra heat to this recipe, try using a jalapeno spiced bacon.

In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, milk, green onion, and garlic salt.  Mix well.  It’s OK if you have a few cream cheese lumps but try to keep them small so it has time to get warm and melt in the oven.

Unroll the crescent roll dough.  You should have 2 separate rectangles.  Press the seams together so the dough doesn’t break apart when rolling the dough in a later step.

I can never find crescent roll sheets (the non-perforated dough) when I’m shopping so I always go the route of pressing seams together.  If you can find the non-perforated dough, buy it!

Divide the cream cheese mixture between the dough and spread evenly across the top.  Get as close to the edges as you want.  It’s OK if some of the cream cheese melts over the sides during baking.

Sprinkle the green onion, bacon, and shredded cheese evenly over the top of each piece of dough.

Gently roll the bottom side of one piece of dough, so it forms a log, and pinch the seams together to hold shut.  Repeat with the second piece of dough.  Slice each “roll” into 6 evenly sized pieces (total of 12 pieces).

Place the puffs onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve immediately while still hot from the oven.  Enjoy!

The recipe can be found here.

These are yummy 😊 You might want to make a double batch if you are expecting company because they will go fast.  They are warm, melty, full of flavor, and a great bite-sized treat.

Happy Cooking!
