If you read my last blog, you know how much we love sandwiches (or sliders) at our house.  Another food we are obsessed with is chicken wings.  They are so easy to make and can be pair with tons of different sauces to create different flavor combinations.  I want to share with you 3 new chicken wing recipes that are inspired by Asian and Mexican dishes.

All 3 recipes are pretty simply to whip up and have amazing flavor!

First up is Orange Chicken Wings.  Think of the orange chicken dish you order at a Chinese restaurant – these chicken wings have a very similar flavor and are bursting with an orangey-citrus taste.  So good!

The recipe can be found here.

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the wings in a large bowl.  If you are using frozen wings, make sure they are completely thawed first.  Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper, to taste.  Toss to coat.

Place the chicken wings on the baking sheet in an even layer.  Bake for 40-45 minutes or until cooked through (internal temp of 165 degrees F).  Flip the chicken wings halfway through baking.

While the chicken wings are baking, make the sauce.  Add the orange juice, orange zest, garlic chili sauce, water, soy sauce, sugar, apple cider vinegar, rice wine, and cornstarch to a saucepan.  Whisk to combine.

Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to medium and simmer for about 10-15 minutes.  You want the sauce to thicken and coat the back of a spoon before removing from the heat.

When the chicken wings are done, remove from the oven and place in a large mixing bowl.  Pour the sauce over the top and toss to coat.

Serve immediately, hot from the oven.  The chicken wings pair really well with cilantro lime rice.  If you have any extra sauce, drizzle some over the rice!

Next up is Asian Zing Chicken Wings.  These have a sweet and spicy flavor.  You mostly taste soy and ginger with a hint of sweetness.  The “zing” typically comes afterward, but it’s a mild to medium heat, so these aren’t too spicy.

Add the cornstarch, rice wine vinegar, corn syrup, sugar, chili-garlic sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, ginger, and salt to a blender or food processor.  Blend until smooth and well combined.

Pour the mixture into a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes.  The sauce will start to thicken and should coat the back of a spoon before you remove it from the heat.

When the chicken wings are done, remove from the oven and place in a large mixing bowl.  Pour the sauce over the top and toss to coat.

Serve immediately, hot from the oven.  The chicken wings pair really well with cilantro lime rice.  The citrus flavor from the rice helps cut some of the spice from the sauce.  If you have any extra sauce, drizzle some over the rice!

Last up is Taco Chicken Wings.  These wings have a well-rounded flavor profile!  You will think you are eating chicken tacos….not too spicy but not at all bland.  The taco seasoning packs the perfect amount of flavor in each bite.

The recipe can be found here.

Start by placing the chicken wings in a large Ziploc bag.

Add the olive oil, taco seasoning, hot sauce, honey, lime juice, and garlic to a small bowl.  Whisk to combine, then pour into the bag.  Seal the bag and toss to coat.  Place in the fridge to marinate for at least an hour but you can marinate overnight.  These are great to prepare ahead of time so all you must do is bake and enjoy, wherever these fall on your weekly menu!

When the chicken is done marinating, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the chicken wings on a baking sheet in an even layer.  Bake for 40-45 minutes or until cooked through (internal temperature of 165 degrees F) and crispy.

Remove from the oven and place on a serving platter.  Serve immediately, while they are still hot!  These wings pair really well with guacamole on the side.  It takes away some of the heat if you use it as a dipping sauce and add a light and refreshing flavor to the meal.

The recipe can be found here.
