I’m sure you’ve either seen, tasted, or heard of the ever-popular ham and cheese sliders made with King’s Hawaiian Rolls.  They are a crowd pleaser because they feed a crowd and are easy to whip up.  I made a slight variation using turkey and Swiss, and the result was phenomenal!  I can easily see myself making a pan of each (ham and turkey) at my next gathering for a little variety.  The turkey is sliced thick and is juicy and tender and the melted Swiss cheese holds it all together (literally).

The recipe can be found here.

Start by spraying a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.  Use a long bread knife to slice the rolls in half.  Keep the rolls attached to each other, do not separate into individual rolls.

Remove the top half of the rolls and add a layer of cheese.  You will use 5 slices of cheese with one piece being cut in half.  Add the turkey evenly over the top.  Then add a second layer of cheese, again using 5 pieces with one piece cut in half.  Place the top half of the rolls on top.

Carefully slice the rolls into 12 separate sliders and place in the baking dish.

I know this is a hot topic for some…I’ve debated with other family members about the proper way to assemble these sandwiches.  You can keep the sandwiches attached and bake that way or separate into individual sandwiches.  I prefer to keep the rolls attached while assembling because it is much faster but find baking the rolls separately helps everything heat more consistently.  Some prefer to separate into individual sandwiches before building.  Do what works for you!

Melt the butter in a microwave safe bowl.  Once melted, add the Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and poppy seeds.  Drizzle evenly over the sliders.  Cover with foil and refrigerate for 30 minutes.  You can also make these ahead of time, cover, and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.  Bake for 20-25 minutes.  The cheese should be melted, and the meat warmed through.  Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes to crisp the top of the rolls.  Remove from the oven, serve warm, and enjoy!

The recipe can be found here.

These are perfect for any time of year!  Summer picnic or to serve guests at your cabin, birthday party idea, football party, sleepover, etc.  I sometimes make a pan and portion the rolls out to enjoy for lunch throughout the week.  Super simple yet delicious!
