I love this time of year because all things pistachio start to appear in grocery stores 😊 Pistachio is a flavor I can’t get enough of.  It’s mildly sweet and has a slight almond flavor.  Sometimes they are salted but can be enjoyed raw, and they have this lovely pastel green color when used in recipes.  Most commonly, pistachios (or pistachio flavoring) are used in breakfast/brunch or dessert type dishes.  You can however use them on top of salads or perhaps in a pasta dish like Pistachio Fettuccine.  Pistachios can be on the expensive side, but I think they are worth the cost and make you appreciate cooking with them that much more! Any recipe that is “no bake” is pretty amazing.  The recipes are typically simple to make and often don’t take a lot of time (just plan ahead so the pie has time to chill).  My favorite “no bake” recipes are for dessert.  You can make some delicious bars, pies, etc. without ever turning on your oven.  So, if you aren’t a baker or don’t have a lot of experience baking, these pies are for you! Everyone loves ice cream!  Why you ask?  There are soooooooo many flavors to choose from, it’s refreshing on a hot summer day (but can be enjoyed year round), you can eat it anywhere, it goes with almost any dessert, you can make it at home….really the reasons to enjoy ice cream are endless 🙂 I enjoy making ice cream with my KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker and trying different flavors.  I’ve definitely had a few batches that didn’t turn out how I wanted but let’s be honest, I ate them anyway 🙂  Who would throw away perfectly good ice cream?  I do, however, have 3 favorites I would like to share with you today. We have some beautiful salmon filets in our store this week and a recipe that is sure to please is Bacon Wrapped Salmon. This recipe uses Tom Douglas Rub with Love – Salmon rub as well as a Savu smoker bag. The salmon rub is brown sugar based  and this rub flavors “the best salmon in Seattle” at Etta’s restaurant, according to Northwest Palate Magazine.
