Brown Sugar Baked Peaches are my new favorite dessert.  It’s an easy recipe to follow and a delicious way to prepare peaches.  The peaches are perfectly ripe and juicy, slathered in a combination of brown sugar and other spices, and baked to perfection (aka the peaches become very tender and warmed through).  Top with some vanilla or cinnamon ice cream and you have the perfect pair! The recipe can be found here. Start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees F.  Slice the peaches in half and remove the pits.  Place the peaches face-side up in a baking dish. Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a small bowl.  Place 1 Tbsp of butter in the center of each peach.  Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the top of each peach. Bake (uncovered) for 12-16 minutes or until the peaches are tender.  Transfer to individual plates for serving and top with a scoop of ice … Continue reading

We recently went on a camping trip, and it was HOT.  Hotter than normal this time of year which was both pleasant and unfortunate.  Pleasant because it was nicer than cold, rainy days but unfortunate because we didn’t have AC 😊 The only way to beat the heat was to make homemade ice cream.  Yes, you read that correctly.  We made ice cream, from scratch, while camping.  And it’s actually quite easy. First, you need to purchase an Ice Cream Ball.  The one we have is YayLabs! Soft Shell Ice Cream Ball.  You can find it at your local sporting goods store or online by doing a simple Google search.  They are reasonably priced and very fun to use. The ball has 2 sides that twist open.  You add heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla to one side, and ice and ice cream salt to the other side.  Roll around for 10 minutes, stir the ingredients and scrape down the sides, add additional salt, and roll … Continue reading

Three words that come to mind when I think of key lime are citrus, sweet, and tart.  Key limes have a distinct lime flavor that can be hard to explain.  It’s tart without being overly acidic, very aromatic, has an elevated sense of flavor (more so than a standard lime), citrusy, and has a very subtle sweetness.  If you know, you know 😊 The flavor pairs well with many desserts, which is what I plan on sharing with you today.  Even better, it’s such a refreshing flavor that it’s perfect for this time of year! These are the recipes I have for you: Key Lime Pie Rice Krispie Bars Key Lime Pie Ice Cream Key Lime Cheesecake Parfait Key Lime Pie Martini   Key Lime Pie Rice Krispie Bars are a great combination of traditional Rice Krispie Bars loaded with key lime flavor.  They are sweet and slightly tart and everything you want in a Rice Krispie … Continue reading

Cinco de Mayo is coming soon – it’s Friday, May 5th.  Cinco de Mayo quite literally means the 5th of May in Spanish so it’s easy to keep track of the date 😊 If you aren’t familiar, here are 3 fun facts about Cinco de Mayo, 1) it’s not Mexico’s Independence Day, 2) it’s not a national holiday in Mexico, 3) it celebrates Mexico’s victory against Imperial France.  As you can see, it’s a relatively minor holiday that is celebrated regionally in Mexico….and pretty much everywhere in the United States.  In Puebla, Mexico it is celebrated with parades, parties, music, folk dancing, and traditional foods.  In the United States, it’s celebrated with Mexican food.  Are you sensing a theme to my blog post?  I’m going to share fun Mexican fares to enjoy for Cinco de Mayo or anytime you are craving Mexican food. Here’s my lineup: Homemade Flour Tortillas Slow Cooker Shredded Salsa Chicken Spicy Grilled Queso Chunky Guacamole Mexican Fried … Continue reading

Loaded Brownie Ice Cream Cake screams indulgence!  The bottom is a thick fudge brownie that is topped with hot fudge, caramel sauce, ice cream, Oreo cookies, whipped cream, and more cookies.  It’s a rich dessert that you won’t want to share, lol! I think ice cream desserts can be enjoyed year-round.  Sure, they are necessary during summer months but every now and again I do crave a yummy ice cream dessert during fall or frigid winter months.  It’s dessert…it’s for any time of year.  This recipe in particular is a showstopper.  It’s rich, indulgent, sweet, and you don’t need a big slice to feel satisfied because it’s so dense. The recipe can be found here. Start by preparing the brownie mix according to package instructions, using a 9×13 baking dish.  Don’t over bake the brownies!  But do let them cool completely.  If you have a deeper 9×13 baking dish, use that.  The ingredients get piled high!  If you have a standard 9×13 baking dish that … Continue reading

Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream Bars are one of my top 10 favorite desserts.  They are essentially cream sandwiches you make on a rimmed baking sheet.  A combination of chocolate and peanut butter makes up the flavors in the cookie with a hint of sea salt sprinkled on top.  The filling is basic vanilla ice cream.  However, you can use any ice cream flavor of your choosing.  Chocolate ice cream would make the perfect chocolate extreme dessert.  Salted Caramel ice cream would pair nicely with the chocolate/peanut butter cookies.  You get the idea!  Make this dessert your own. The recipe can be found here. Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F.  Generously spray an 18×13 rimmed baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.  Please do not forget this step or you will have quite a hard time removing the bars! Melt 2 sticks of butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.  Remove from the heat and let cool slightly. … Continue reading

Homemade Buster Bar Ice Cream Dessert is one of those desserts you can’t get enough of!  It’s loaded with peanuts, vanilla ice cream, an Oreo crust, and a chocolatey-fudgy topping.  It’s perfect on a hot summer day…or really any day because ice cream isn’t limited to summer enjoyment 😊 It’s a dessert I would recommend for a dinner party or birthday party.  It has something for everyone, is filling, and will feed a crowd. The recipe can be found here. Start by softening the ice cream so it’s easier to work with.  Do this by placing the quart of ice cream on the counter for 15-20 minutes to soften while you prepare the other ingredients. Add the Oreos to the bowl of a food processor.  Pulse until you have fine crumbs.  Pour the crumbs into a mixing bowl and add 1 stick of melted butter.  Stir to combine.  The mixture will resemble wet sand.  Press this mixture into the bottom of … Continue reading

Summer is officially over, and fall is officially here!  That means the temperatures are starting to drop, but it isn’t quite cold enough yet, to stop eating ice cream and enjoying some warmer weather treats.  Before you finally put away your ice cream maker for the year, try out these 3 new ice cream recipes I’m going to share with you today. Banana Ice Cream Salted Caramel Ice Cream Frosted Animal Cookie Ice Cream   Banana Ice Cream is rich, creamy, and has wonderful flavoring so don’t toss out those overly ripe bananas (and don’t save them for the banana bread you are never going to make, lol).  Turn them into Banana Ice Cream instead!  It’s delicious and tastes just banana pudding but in frozen form 😊 Banana is my dad’s favorite flavor to get in a shake or malt so I thought why not try making Banana Ice Cream that I can share with … Continue reading

Do you remember those yummy ice cream pizzas you probably had as a child at Dairy Queen?  They came in multiple favors and were typically served at a party.  They were my FAVORITE!  And there was a time in my life that I believe they were discontinued, and I was admittedly bummed to never have one again.  However, I was able to find a way to recreate them as copycat versions of the original. I have 3 recipes to share with you today for Copycat Treatzza Pizzas…I call them Ice Cream Pizza. M&M Ice Cream Pizza Heath Bar Ice Cream Pizza Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pizza   Let’s start by walking through the M&M Ice Cream Pizza.  You start with an Oreo crust, top it with vanilla ice cream, drizzle with hot fudge, and add M&M candies to finish it off.  This is a classic ice cream dessert that’s incredibly … Continue reading
