A chilled seafood buffet is a delicious and colorful option for your holiday entertaining and much easier than attempting to keep food warm with open house entertaining, you can set the buffet and mingle with your guests. Be sure to keep all of your seafood iced and chilled on your buffet. Bubbles go well with seafood so think about serving a Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine along with your seafood spread. Lobster claws and King Crab legs served with a Seafood Mustard Sauce serve well as the main course, the lobster claws are pre-scored making them easy to open. Have plenty of seafood crackers and small forks on hand to get every last bite out of the legs and claws. Oysters on the half shell are always called for at festive occasions! Don’t forget the lemons and Frank’s Red Hot Sauce. Shrimp and cocktail sauce. Or…shrimp shooters Serve with our Festival fresh … Continue reading

The fresh Halibut season has begun in the US and the fillets have been awesome! One of our favorite recipes for Hallibut is Fish Tacos with Chunky Guacamole. This recipe also works well for Shrimp Tacos, use some shredded Spanish Manchego Cheese for a lovely combination with the shrimp. Guacamole is also a healthy snack that takes very little time to prepare, we have Guacamole at our house at least once per week. Guacamole is a lovely side to so many dishes. Another fabulous recipe for Halibut is Roasted Halibut with Red Bell Peppers, ask our butchers to remove the skin on the Halibut for you to save time. Click on the photo below for the recipe.   Source: eatingwell.com via Festival on Pinterest   Nothing says spring like a delicious dish made with Asparagus! We found this recipe for Absurdly Addictive Asparagus on Food52.com and fell in love, let … Continue reading

Well we might not be invited but there’s no reason we can’t have our own fabulous “Governor’s Ball”. The menu by Wolfgang Puck for the 2013 Governor’s Ball is somewhat intimidating but there is no reason we can’t whip up some pretty fine fare in our own homes to watch the Academy Awards in fine-tasting style with friends. Rather than their shrimp fritters for an appetizer try our recipe for Beer-Battered Coconut Shrimp with a lovely light batter.   These Italian Sliders would really spice up the evening and make quite an impression, made with our very own fresh Italian sausage -made right in the store. Always on our table when entertaining is Chunky Guacamole and now a new favorite on our table is a Black Bean Dip, a spicy warm delight.   Buffalo flavor something is always on the table as well. For something new pick up some of … Continue reading

One of our favorite meals is Tacos, no matter what kind! We prefer soft shell tacos and  love to experiment with different fillings. Our favorite new filling is Buffalo Chicken using our favorite wing sauce Wing-Time. We think you will love this Buffalo Chicken Taco with Guacamole recipe. We really enjoy the chicken cubed rather than shredded in this recipe.  Dredging the chicken in the flour mixture makes the wing sauce adhere to the chicken cubes when you assemble the tacos. While many taco recipes have green onions, avocado, cilantro and peppers; we believe it is easier to just make our Chunky Guacamole recipe for the filling. Rather than sour cream we prefer to use Taco Fiesta Top the Tater, a sour cream dip that is seasoned perfectly for tacos. We are also crazy for Fish Tacos with Chunky Guacamole. Again, we use the guacamole for our filling and also … Continue reading

Fall has arrived and it’s time for some football!  Throw that beer in the fridge and start planning what football-friendly food to serve while watching the game. Make up some Game Day Pretzels for that crunch that every gathering needs, this is one that you need to make a couple of days ahead so plan accordingly. If the kids are watching the game with you it might be fun to make Sloppy Joe Nachos (the adults will love these too). Make our simple but tasty Sloppy Joe recipe, next make our Queso recipe, again really simple. Now you are ready to assemble your nachos. Layer a platter with tortilla chips and spoon your hot Sloppy Joe mix over the top of the chips and drizzle hot Queso over the top. Serve the remaining Sloppy Joes in buns and you also have plenty of Queso for dipping. Buffalo Wings seem to … Continue reading

You don’t have to go to the French Quarter of New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras. Have your own celebration enjoying  creole or cajun cuisine and other food traditions of Mardi Gras. We have King Cakes and Paczkis on Monday and Fat Tuesday and some festive cupcakes to celebrate the event. One staple in our family cupboard has always been Zatarain’s Dirty Rice mix, all you have to do is add water and browned ground beef, a one pot meal to have any time of year. Po’ boys are another Louisiana food that we enjoy. Po’boys are a sandwich that consists of meat or seafood (usually fried) served on a baguette. One of our favorite po’ boy recipes is made with ground pork from a recipe I found years ago in Food and Wine magazine Spicy Pork Po’Boys is included in our Menu this week. How about trying Jambalaya with … Continue reading

The Christmas season is filled with so many traditions; families heading to tree farms to choose and cut their tree to decorate together or friends gathering for a tree trimming party, cookie exchanges, etc.  It is also filled with shopping, school concerts, houseguests, and food, glorious food, that’s where we come in.  Our December Seafood Sale is a very popular holiday tradition for our guests as well as our associates. One item always featured in our seafood sale is our Alaskan Red King Crab. Most people don’t know that there are actually three different types of Alaskan king crab.  There are red, blue, and brown king crabs; Reds are known for being the sweetest of all king crab.  While other retail stores offer the brown king crab because of the lower price point, we choose to sell Alaskan Red King to provide the best quality and value to our customers.  … Continue reading
