JAW Ready for This?
Duunnn Dunnn… Duuuunnnn Duun… Duuunnnnnnnn Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dunnnnnnnnnnn Dunnnn Do you know what that is? It’s the JAWS theme song because Shark Week on the Discovery Channel is fast approaching 😊 Shark Week is a week-long celebration from Sunday, July 23 – Sunday, July 30, 2023, and features shark themed programming. It’s an incredibly popular week among shark enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning more. I don’t participate in the full week, nor do I spend hours upon hours invested in shark programs, but I do like to tune-in from time to time. There is always something educational or interesting to watch. This year, I’m going to pair my viewings with some fun, festive snacks! Here are my Shark Week recipes: Pretzel Fishing Rods Sugary Shark Sushi Shark Pudding Cups No Churn Shark Infested Ice Cream Pretzel Fishing Rods are your basic pretzel rod with Twizzlers Pull ‘N’ Peel licorice used as a fishing line to secure a sour gummy worm as bait. Chocolate Peppermint Trifles
Chocolate Peppermint Trifles are a wonderful no bake dessert for the holidays! Think layers of cookie crumbs, chocolate pudding, whipped cream, and crushed candy canes…it’s delicious! It’s a simple recipe that takes about 15 minutes to make and then sets in the fridge until ready to serve. I like to serve mine in 4-8oz trifle containers, but you could divide the pudding between 8-4oz containers to stretch it further. The recipe can be found here. Start by adding the Oreos to the bowl of a food processor. Pulse into fine crumbs then divided between 4 8oz trifle dishes (or 8 4oz dishes) and use the back of a spoon to press into the bottom. If you don’t care for mint flavoring, you can use regular Oreos for the base. Add the milk, chocolate pudding, vanilla pudding, and peppermint extract to a large mixing bowl. Whisk to combine and set aside. The mixture will become thick. Same as before if you … Continue reading

After School Chow
Summer is coming to an end, kids are starting school, cooler weather is on the way, and you are probably stuck with the never-ending questions about snack time at home 😊 I’ve always been a big fan of keeping “chow” on hand for an easy snack you can grab on the go but also a snack that will last a few days. Chow is known by a few different names and it’s something I’m sure you’ve tried before. I like to play around with different flavor combinations and create unique ways to change the recipe, so we don’t get sick of the same old thing week after week. Today I want to share with you my recipes for 5 different Chow recipes: Snickers Frosted Animal Cookie Butterfinger Twix Edible Cookie Dough Snickers Chow is loaded with rice cereal, chocolate, powdered sugar, chopped Snicker bars, and peanuts. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty. … Continue reading

Individual Cheesecakes
Cheesecake is one of my favorite desserts. It comes in a variety of flavors, can be fruity or sweet, and is usually a crowd pleaser. Mini cheesecakes are fun for a party or holiday because you can make a few different varieties, or perhaps make one plain batch but let your guests add their own toppings and have a simple yet delicious dessert. One of the recipes I want to share with you today is for Mini Salted Caramel Cheesecakes. If you like cheesecake and caramel, these are for you! The crust is a homemade graham cracker crust. The cheesecake has a creamy texture, sweet taste that might be considered a little rich to some, with a slight tanginess, which comes from the cream cheese. The mini cheesecakes are then doused in a generous amount of caramel sauce and sprinkled with salt. SO GOOD! The recipe can be found here. Start by preheating the oven to 350 … Continue reading

Cookies Galore
Spring will be over before you know it and as we get into the summer months, you might be looking for something fun for the kids to do over summer break. Why not make a fresh batch of cookies? (And then send them outside to recover from the sugar rush) 😊 There is nothing like fresh baked cookies, right out of the oven. I always have to sample one off the baking sheet (for quality control purpose) before they are even cooled enough to transfer to a cooling rack. Am I a monster? Yes. But so are the 1st cookies I want to share with you today 😊 Monster Cookies are giant in size and truly the best! They are loaded with peanut butter, oats, butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, and M&M’s, so you are essentially combining aspects of your favorite cookie into one super-sized cookie. They are thick, chewy, and a crowd pleaser! The recipe can be found here. Start by … Continue reading

Cake Pops
Cake Pops are a fun phenomenon and something I had to try. When I think of a Cake Pop, I think of cake that is coated in melted chocolate, skewered on a stick, and served as a bite sized treat. They can be made in most cake flavors and decorated as simple or elaborate as you want. They are very similar to truffles but are often a little lighter and truffles aren’t served on a stick. I started my Cake Pop venture before the 4th of July (can you see I’m a bit behind on writing this? :)) but thought these are great treat for any time of year! You could make some to celebrate Labor Day, the end of summer and kids going back to school, dessert at a BBQ, or just make them because you love cake 🙂 I purchased this fancy Cake Pop maker (little countertop appliance … Continue reading

National Ice Cream Day
Everyone loves ice cream! Why you ask? There are soooooooo many flavors to choose from, it’s refreshing on a hot summer day (but can be enjoyed year round), you can eat it anywhere, it goes with almost any dessert, you can make it at home….really the reasons to enjoy ice cream are endless 🙂 I enjoy making ice cream with my KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker and trying different flavors. I’ve definitely had a few batches that didn’t turn out how I wanted but let’s be honest, I ate them anyway 🙂 Who would throw away perfectly good ice cream? I do, however, have 3 favorites I would like to share with you today. Strawberry Ice Cream Pistachio Ice Cream Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream is incredibly flavorful and refreshing! There is an entire pound of strawberries in this batch of ice cream, so it’s definitely fruity. … Continue reading
