If you aren’t familiar with Beyond Meat, it’s a plant-based “meat” that is quite tasty and gives you the texture and juiciness of ground beef.  I use it in a lot of recipes but recently tried it in a taco salad.  It was colorful, zesty, and packed full of flavor.  I didn’t miss the meat and don’t think you will either!  So, I recommend adding Beyond Meat to your next salad to give it that high quality, premium, restaurant feel. If you keep reading, you will learn about my recipe for a Vegan Beyond Meat Taco Salad.  The recipe is for a vegan meal.  All ingredients in the recipe are vegan conscious.  If you are not vegan, are working your way towards becoming vegan, or are simply intrigued, please give this recipe a shot!  You can substitute virtually any ingredient and make it your own to suit your taste.  There is a high chance you will eliminate the vegan … Continue reading

We recently committed to a vegan diet for about 2 weeks and have to admit, it was delicious!  We had done this once before, but enough time had passed that we wanted to try some different foods and see how we could handle meals without any meat, once again.  We both lost weight, our bodies felt great, and we enjoyed creating recipes. It might be surprising, but some types of food you already eat are vegan, like pasta, if you skip the cheese and use a red sauce.  If you’re up for the challenge, I recommend starting with a week of vegan eating.  If it works out well, try for another week.  Baby step your way into it!  We don’t plan on going vegan by any means.  We love food too much and would miss some of our favorite meals!  BUT… we do plan on incorporating more vegan meals into … Continue reading

I have a handful of grilling ideas and side dish suggestions for you to try to have the perfect spread.  Let’s start with the meat! Brats – there are so many brat varieties available, you are sure to find something for everyone on your guest list.  My favorite is the Chicken Fajita Brat found at the Chef’s Counter of your local Festival Foods.  Other varieties available include Philly Cheese Chicken, Octoberfest, Jalapeno Cheddar, Wild Rice, and more!  Don’t forget the fresh brat buns from the bakery! Burgers – probably the most popular food to grill.  Plus, burgers … Continue reading

I’ve been excited to write this post since I originally had the idea! Most of my posts so far have been about food but why stop there? I thought I could write about wine…delicious wine 🙂 For the winos and fitness enthusiasts out there, this is something you’ll want to try! It’s called FitVine and is considered “clean wine”. Don’t worry; I’ll explain what I mean by “clean wine” later. It started with 3 friends that wanted to create a wine that fit their very athletic and constant moving lifestyles…so they created FitVine. There are 5 kinds of FitVine available, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc. These wines are very clean tasting and have a lot of flavor but still have the alcohol content you would expect from a glass of wine. They are low in sugar and low in carbs so you don’t feel as … Continue reading

Every time I shop at Festival Foods I have to checkout the Meat Department because they always have a large assortment of prepackaged meal options. You can find bratwurst, burger patties, marinated chicken, pork chops, and much more. One of my favorite things to buy is Crusted Chicken Breasts. They are available in a variety of flavors and are easy to make for dinner because all you have to do is bake them. I bought 2 different flavors during my last trip to the store, Parmesan Crusted Chicken and Tortilla with Cheese Crusted Chicken. I thought it would be fun to do a taste test to see which one we liked better. The first night we had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast with a Caesar salad and corn bread (from the Festival Foods Bakery). To make the chicken I preheated the oven to 375 degrees. Then placed both chicken breasts … Continue reading

We’ve all watched some great movies this year and on Sunday evening we shall see which films and actors are awarded Oscars. Why not step up your menu and celebrate the year in film with some awesome food. We looked through our recipes and products to find some delicious and festive food for you to watch the Oscars. Seafood always seems right for a special menu. One of our favorites is Lump Crab Cakes from our Chef department, we sell them frozen and all you have to do is brown each side in butter and place on a baking sheet in the oven – delicious. Serve them with this simple recipe for Seafood Mustard Sauce as an appetizer course or main course. Large shrimp served with Festival’s fresh cocktail sauce is a wonderful appetizer treat and so easy to serve!   This Chilled Shrimp Salad recipe is a colorful salad course with … Continue reading

Is there anyone who isn’t suffering from Cabin Fever after these long months of snow & cold? Hopefully the weather forecast is correct for the weekend – 70+ degrees by Sunday! The arrival of spring calls for a celebration with some great food and beverage, perhaps even a bonfire with s’mores! If your schedule is packed, perhaps you should have your groceries delivered! One thing for certain is that the grill is coming out this weekend. A Rib Eye Steak Topped with Blue Cheese Butter seems like a perfect way to kick off the grilling season.   No gathering should ever be without Guacamole (at least in our opinion) and we prefer the chunky kind. You can toss together at the last minute before your guests arrive and it won’t be long before the bowl is empty – always a hit!   A Caprese salad with vine-on tomatoes and fresh basil will … Continue reading
